Late in the development cycle for WGBH's Evolution website, a joint venture between WGBH and Clear Blue Sky, Black Hammer was asked to step in to program the Origin of Species flash piece. We created an interactive environment for users to explore the evolution of the Pollenpeeper, inhabitants of a fictional archipelago, over the course of five million years.

Completed in record time in order to launch with the companion TV series, the introductory animation for the Origin of Species gives way to an overview of the island chain that is home to the Pollenpeepers. An animated timeline allows users to see the migration paths and changes to the bird's appearance over a 5 million year period, while detail screens for each island provide details about competition, habitat, food, and predators. The project also includes an interactive species gallery, and a glossary of terms.
